That should work. We had a reverse scenario where we did not want the
subsequent background step to show the user as the agent and we turned off
the advance with dialog flag.

Hi Mark,
 
I am not sure if this will work as I am not in front of a system at the
moment so I can't try it. Make the step that calls the BAPI has the
'advance with dialog' flag checked as well as the decision task. This
should make it execute under the correct user ID.
 
To be honest, because I don't have a system in front of me. I am not
sure if this will work. Can anyone else confirm?

In background tasks, processor is always background user 'WF-Batch'. For
example, We have a decision task to release PO. BAPI that releases the
PO logs WF-Batch as the releaser and so the event 'Released' is also
created under WF-Batch.
 
Is there a way to force actual agent's userid instead of WF-Batch?
