EMail notification of workitems with R3M attachment

Hi all,
 
we are using the report RSWUWFML (E-Mail notification of workitems)
currently. As the end users are looking for a more convenient solution and
the full MAPI interface does not seem to be reasonable for that amount of
users, we are considering using a copy of RSWUWFML with activated R3M
attachments. This seems to work absolutely fine except one thing: after
using the attachment there are many "dead" RFC sessions on the server which
remain open even after the workitem has been closed again.
 
Do you have any experiences in this area? Could this be the reason why SAP
have not activated the attachment option in RSWUWFML?
