Sub screen transaction no longer launched in separate screen

I had a workflow working where when a Vendor was created it would send a notification to a certain user. When the user executed the work item it would display the message and at the same time launch the transaction FK02 passing the vendor number and skipping the first screen in a separate session \ window.
 
We applied a few patches and this launching of the alternate session no longer works. Any ideas?
