Multiple start condition problem

Dave and Darrell,

Thank you both for your help. It was the negative logic that confused me.
Needless to say it was a case of user error - I should have used AND instead
of OR. Have a nice day!

Thanks,
Ty

Hi Ty. Could it be a problem with the negative logic as you've stated below?
If the document type is 'ZBPR', then it is NOT 'NB', so your OR condition is
satisfied and the workflow would start. If the condition is NOT 'ZBPR' AND
NOT 'NB' (instead of OR), then I think it would work correctly. I'm not sure
how much control you have with the start condition editor over OR versus
AND.

Good luck,
Dave

Stephan,

Sorry about that. It doesn't error or abend. The events are published.
Whenever I am trying to get it to check more than one condition value, it
seems to ignore all of them and starts the workflow anyway. For example, I
have the condition that if the document type is NOT equal to 'ZBPR', start
the workflow. Since this is a single condition value, if I create a
document of this type the notification workflow is not started. That's
great! However, if I add another condition value to this and say that if
the document type is NOT 'ZBPR' or 'NB' then start the workflow...even if I
create a document of the type 'ZBPR', it starts the workflow. Hope that
clarified things a little. Thanks for your help.

Ty

Ty,

please elaborate on the "it bombs" part. Do you get an abend, an error
during check, just no event.. ?

Stephan

Subject: Multiple start condition problem

Hi everybody,
Hope someone can help me. I'm on version 4.6C. My problem is this. I am
trying to create a start condition via transaction SWB_COND for a workflow
definition to send notifications to users whenever a purchase order is
created for a requisition that they had entered. However, not all
requisitions are created by individuals. Some are created by batch ids.
These we would like to ignore. We have determined that only certain
document types (ZBPR and NB) are created by batch ids.

The problem is that when I have a single value in the start condition (ZBPR
for instance), it works fine. However, if I enter two or more document
types (ZBPR and NB) in the start condition, it bombs. Has anyone
experienced this?

Thanks your help.

Ty
