Interpreting the technical workflow log

Hi Dave,

as per your first question, have a look at whether the method in question is
flagged as a dialog method, in that case, it would use the dialog user ID.

As per the second question, this has something to do with the way the
workflow engine selects the log entries (I think I remember that time was
one of the factors, with some entries being written the same second, thus
rather hard to sort..), and I don't think this is a problem with the
workflow as such.

Greetings,
Stephan

Subject: Interpreting the technical workflow log

Hi everybody. I have a question about some information that I'm seeing in
the technical workflow log for a purchase order approval workflow that we're
running. Below is the section of the log that I have questions on. My
questions are:

- shouldn't the agent for all log steps under the Background Step (number
792526) be the Workflow WF-Batch user? It appears that the system is using
the dialog user's ID to execute at least a portion of the background
processing, which I think might lead to security problems.

- the order of the steps listed under the Background Step seems strange. Why
are there two lines for "Execution started automatically" after the line for
"Work item processing complete"?

Are these just quirks in the way the log information is presented, or do
they indicate a possible problem with this workflow? Thanks for any
information you can provide.
