Modifying Inbox preview display

Hi WF experts,

Our users would like to directly approve requests they get in their Inbox with
ne click, rather than execute it and then approve/release in a separate screen.
They were asking for Approve and Reject buttons alongside each workitem
description for this purpose. I believe the EBP Inbox has such an
implementation. I know this is not possible in the R/3 4.6c Inbox, without
repairing the program. But I was wondering if the preview text could be changed
to display Approve and Reject buttons which would run the relevant BAPI to
complete the required action.

The WI_display tab for a task in the Workflow builder has a place to specify a
function module in the block "Adaptation of work item preview in Business
Workplace". There are also some demo functions provided by SAP (e.g.
SWL0_PREVIEW_DEMO_TEXT_AND_GIF), but these functions are just shells with no
code in them. I guess the idea is to code in any custom functionality required.

Has anybody adapted the preview to add custom executable objects and
methods/functions?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
