Word Document Template

I have recently implemented a Workflow which contains a word document
template as a controlled form. What I am looking for is,
1) Where is the document stored in SAP?
2) Can I modify the form outside the Workflow Template?
3) Will a Word Template have any impact on system performance?
 
These are some of the questions I could not answer when my Manager asked me.
Since I have never been to any training, I am trying to find an
answer from this forum.
