Triggering Workflow from Perl or PL/SQL server

Hi there,
I wanted to ask if there is somebody out there, who has ever written a
Server in either
Perl or PL/SQL to interface an R/3 System and trigger a Workflow.
I know that this is rather a RFC Problem then a WF-problem, but maybe
somebody
has already encountered this type of request and has some Scripts to spare
as a
demo example.
 
Any help is appreciated.
