Send Internet Email

There will be a workflow hung on the order following creation. A customer
service rep will need to review, confirm inventory, and or source product if
necessary and confirm back to customer with a shipping date. The inital
email may be just a initial step in the definition.
 
The workflow will include more than just the email.
 
I have built workflows using the send mail task where the receipients are
internal users. What's the difference between an internal user and an
external mail recipient? Is the task set up the same way? Will the object
need to be modified?

Hi Roger,
 
SAP does provide a 'Send Mail' task in 4.6 so sending a mail from workflow
is quite easy. However, it is difficult to make a call between WF vs output
as there are various things to consider, i.e. Performance - Is it worth it
to kick off a WF just to send a mail? Volumes? etc.

What would be the best apporach, generate the email directly from output, or
generate the email via workflow?
