FI - Open Item Clearing

Thank you Paul,

Change documents will not be triggered because there are no changes to these
documents, they simply have gone past their value date and have not yet
cleared. I had checked for user exits and there were none, and besides,
this is for a demo and needs to be accomplished using the vanilla code.

Might there be some way to use deadlines on the workitem? This is the
approach I have been turning around in my mind. If we could start a WF when
the original document is created, with the deadline the same as the value
date, it could trigger a workitem based on the deadline. This still leaves
the fact that the clearing date has to be blank - any ideas? Caveats?

Subject: FI - Open Item Clearing

I need to be able to create a work item during the FI Open Item Clearing
process. The desired result is that a work item be sent to a specific
position when the clearing date is blank and the current date is greater
than the value date. From what I can tell there are no events triggered by
this batch process.

Ideas I have heard to date include:

Trigger the even directly from the Open Item clearing process. I have
looked to see if there are any events raised as this batch process executes
(program SAPF124) and found none. It seems to have been developed more as
a report that processes what it can then simply lists out any exceptions
found. In my opinion, the best alternative would be to use the existing
process to raise the event; I do not see a way to do this - any ideas?

Create a program that will follow the Open Item Clearing run that will
repeat the selection of open items, check the clearing and value dates, then
raise an event to trigger the workflow that will create the work item.

Another thought is to somehow trigger a workflow when the open item is
created and wait for the clearing run. I don't see how this would work but
I wanted to throw it out there for ideas.

If anyone has any alternatives they can share or past experience with this
type of process, I could use some help.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,
Jeff Gray
