Netscape integration

A client is considering the integration of SAP Workflow (3.1i) with their
corporate messaging service. Unfortunately (for me) they use Netscape Messenger
and Netscape Communicator. I've looked through SAP documentation and Netscape
documentation, but can find no specific mention of integrating SAP and Netscape.
Please could anyone who has had experience with this give me any advice they
can. In particular: can the two systems communicate? What components would be
needed? What sort of activities are required? Is workflow integration possible,
or will I be limited to notification e-mails? is there more functionality
available at higher releases of R/3?
 
Any advice and comments would be greatly appreciated.
