We create a COA profile and attach it to the customer. It defines what lab
results are required.

We use a LIMS system (external) that feeds data to SAP using custom
extracts. It populates an SAP system table. Thru this same interface, we
create inventory postings.

We read the table periodically and update the COA results. We do batch
determination and customer profiles. The batch isn't proposed in SD unless
the customer profiles match.

We store the COAs on an iXOS server. Our users have access to the iXOS
server using a special viewer. We are planning on moving this feature to
the Web so that our customers can print their own COAs.

We have implemented Doculink which provides advanced reporting against the
COAs stored. We are using it in PM for calibration sheets / instrumentation
sheets that are required.

We are moving from SAPCOM to SAPCONNECT for our fax service.

We generate / fax 100 - 200 COAs per day. We have very few errors. I think
it is because we do alot of validation outside of SAP. The data is clean
before it hits our system.

Subject: Automatic faxing of Quality Certificates

We are configuring our system to automatically fax the Certificate of
Analysis (Quality Certificate) at Post Goods Issue. However, this raises a
number of issues:

1) No profile assigned
2) Missing test results - COA gets faxed with the missing result but we
would like to prevent this from happening. This could be done by checking
the 'Characteristic Required' box in the certificate profile. The client
is reluctant, however, to do this.
3) Out of spec results
4) Missing fax details
to name a few

How are these errors (exceptions) being handled by other companies. We
would like to implement a workflow to send a workitem to the appropriate
user depending on the error. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in anticipation.
Jill
