Transporting workflows

Thanks for all the help on my previous call - my step is now being executed
in the background as required.
 
I've modified a deadline on a subsequent step in the same workflow from 5
days to 10 minutes to facilitate testing. I've activated the WF prior to
transport but the latest end deadlineon the workitem created  is still 5
days. Where am I going wrong?
