User profiles

This works on a 3.1i systems...
 
Create a profile.  Assign the individual transactions necessary to the new
profile.
This works in conjunction with the existing user profiles.
 
for a workflow user profile...assign txn  SO01, PPOS
for an workflow admin profile assign SO01, PPOM, swu3...

Hi experts,
 
we are setting up a workflow for a customer on a SAP 4.0B release and came
accross the following problem:
 
The customer is quite restrictive regarding user authorizations. They are
afraid that the provided SAP standard profile S_WF_USER contains very
powerful security objects that they don't normally give out to users.
Is there a work around or an alternative to using the SAP standard profiles?
