Pur. Req Notification

Hello WF guys,
 
At last I got Pur.Req WF working by activating an user exit. However, I =
have yet another issue i.e., I want the approver of the Req to be =
notified of the workitem when it gets to the inbox for the first time. =
The Std. Pur.Req "Create' event is not doing this and nor do I want to =
copy and customize it. Is there any way I can do it or am I missing =
something in the Config?
 
Any help is highly appreciated.
