Bernhard,

Agree with your point of view, but would not start building your own
relationships or objects from the view of set up time and long term
maintenance. Extensions to PD can become horribly expensive in the long run
as maintenance of non-standard objects and relationships is very cumbersome
(although the creation of new objects, relationships etc. definitions is
easy enough).

Marco, I do not really understand what you are trying to achieve with your
superior role resolution. Please explain a bit further.

I have not come across a role resolution issue yet which could not be solved
using the flexibility of creating your own role resolution function modules.
You can combine different types of role resolution within one function
module quite easily, and give one type priority over another (ie when org
management role assignment does not lead to a result use role assignment
based on a workflow attribute, etc.). It does require sufficient knowledge
of ABAP and PD data structures though.

Next step is to create a standard role based on your function module. If
your role assignment requirements exceed what is standard available you
should investigate this route.

Hi Marco,

there should only be one plan version, for HR as well as for workflow. I
highly recommend not to use two plan version. You could run into lots of
problems.

In Organizational Management (OM) you are able to define your own
relationship types or even own OM-object types. Based on that you can
create evaluation paths which should meet your requirements. Good knowledge
in OM is needed, which is the content of HR550 training course. Please
check, if that course is still offered anywhere.

Memo from Marco Covino of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

Hi,

I would like to use a for my workflow a plan version which is different form
the
one that the HR module looks at, which if I am not wrong is the active
version.
I need to create a different and simplefied plan version to route the
"superior"
role resolution.
Is this possible?
Otherwise how could i overcome the problem?

thanks a lot,
your help will be very much apreciated.

Marco Covino
