Sending notification between different SAP Components from a workflow process

Hi David,

1. Sounds like you need to do some business object programming and some
workflow development in your CRM system. Enjoy. Remember you have the full
functionality of SAP Business Workflow in CRM - but only business objects
relevant to CRM and BBP.

2. CRM is 4.6C based, if there R/3 system is 4.6C also you could use WfXML
to communicate between the systems.

Otherwise in your R/3 system, look for function modules starting with
SO_*_API* - you should find some API functions for SAPoffice which allow you
to create documents in your R/3 system using RFC calls.

Subject: Sending notification between different SAP Components from a
workflow process

Hi folks

Welcome to the wonderful world of SAP Components !

I have a few questions and also seeking advice:

I am at a client that is implementing core R/3, BBP and CRM.

Questions:

1. Has anyone been involved with CRM and creating a workflow process for
approvals of
activities in the Customer Interaction Center (CIC). From CIC in CRM you
can view activities from
the Business Workplace but the client here wants to create an approval
process based on whether
the customer has a status of GOLD, PLATINUM, etc. Then going through a
multi level approval
process a bit like the FIPP object. This is a bit vague I know. I
checked for workflow templates in CRM
but there are not that many available.

2. This is the main point : The client wants to send a notification in the
core R/3 system when an asset master
record is created in the BBP system. Using change docs to trigger a
workflow in the BBP system no problem but
what approach do I take to send the notification to the core R/3 system
? Does anyone know of any RFC's,
BAPI's that can send a mail/workitem message from a BBP system to a core
R/3 system ? Maybe e-mail
and SAPConnect is the other option. Any thoughts out there ?
