Linking SAP to Outlook

If you are sending workflow workitems and the recipients are SAP users, you
can install the MAPI service off of the SAP GUI and set up a service in
Outlook that points to it. (For more information go to
http://www.saplabs.com and click on downloads) This will create a separate
folder in your Outlook for workflow messages. Users can execute the
workitems from Outlook and then automatically get connected to SAP. If you
are sending only text messages and don't expect a response to SAP, you can
send an internet mail by creating a task based on the object SELFITEM and
the method SENDTASKDESCRIPTION. In the binding from the task to the method,
set up the recipient type as 'U' and the recipient name as the email
address. You must also set up the appropriate settings to allow messages
generated out of SAP to go to the internet through the internet gateway or
Exchange. If you do a search on the SAP help page for your release at
http://help.sap.com under "Internet mail" you will find a few documents
explaining your options.
