Columns in workitem descripton ?

hello all:
 
on sapphire in july i saw a workflow demo in which the workitem description
in the inbox was divided into several columns. the feature was that sorting
was possible with each column in the description and not only with the
description as one sort field.
 
has anyone an idea about how this is set up in the workflow inbox, i.e. if i
have a workitem text :   company code - SAP document number - fiscal year -
approve, how do i create a column for each of the four description items ?
