Runtime error after deadline

Hello,
 
   I have dialog step for which a fully modeled deadline monitoring is
activated(Requested end).A subworkflow is called in the next step.
 
   The subworkflow starts and is halted with runtime error if deadline step is
followed. If the dialog step is executed there is no problem starting the
subworkflow.
 
   Is there any other step that is required after setting the dialog work item
step to obsolete and having exception handling for obsolete event.
