Why the focus on industry acceptance? Although I agree that talking with 
industry is important, and perhaps even insightful [who knows, perhaps 
NIST, IEEE, etc., has something to offer], I don't think that's a high 
priority at all. That's like telling linux that they need to go talk to 
Microsoft.
