You specified Architecture: any in your debian/control, so the
autobuilders will try to build it for every single architecture Debian
supports. (I suppose it may fail on some of them.)

(I believe how it still works is that the amd64 binary I uploaded will
be installed to the archive as-is, while just the other architectures
will be built on the buildds.)

You definitely don't need to make separate packages for different
architectures.
