Pushing the limits of nonlinear microscopy

Chris Xu,

Cornell University

 Tuesday, November 26, 2013

12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Chris Xu is Professor of Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University. His current research areas are fiber optics and biomedical imaging, with major thrusts in multiphoton microscopy, multiphoton medical endoscopy, and ultrafast and nonlinear fiber optics. Prior to Cornell, he was a member of technical staff in Advanced Photonic Research at Bell Laboratories from 1999 to 2002. He joined Bell Laboratories as a postdoctoral member in Biological Computation Research in 1997. His main research focus at Bell Labs was on fiber optics and optical communications. He received his Ph.D. from Applied Physics, Cornell University, working on multiphoton microscopy. Awards and honors include the Tau Beta Pi and two other teaching excellence awards at Cornell, and NSF CAREER award. He is a fellow of the Optical Society of America.
