Dear Colleagues,

The G.R. Harrison Spectroscopy Laboratory and the Department of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science would like to invite you to the next
seminar in our series on Modern Optics and Spectroscopy.

Date & Time: Tuesday, October 12, 12 noon - 1 PM
Location: Grier Room (34-401)
Speaker: Daniel R. Grischkowsky, Oklahoma State University
Title: THz-time domain spectroscopy of molecular vapors

Refreshments will be served following the talk.

Abstract
Daniel R. Grischkowsky, Oklahoma State University
THz-time domain spectroscopy of molecular vapors
The effectiveness of THz Time-Domain Spectroscopy (THz-TDS) will be
demonstrated by measurements of rotational transitions in molecular
vapors. A previously impossible far-infrared (THz-TDS) characterization of
an active flame will be described and compared to far-infrared Fourier
Transform Spectroscopy. Waveguide THz-TDS measurements of 20 nm water
layers will be described and compared with submonolayer THz-TDS
measurements of water, ammonia, and methyl halides.
