Good Evening,
This message is a follow-up to the announcement sent out on June 24 regarding problems with Apple's latest iPhone software, iOS 4. Specifically, some users reported that after updating to iOS 4, they were unable to view their Exchange calendars on their iPhones. In the last few days, IS&T has also had reports of other issues – for example, some Exchange contacts or emails not appearing properly.
Apple and MIT have been working collaboratively to address these issues and have been troubleshooting with MIT users affected by the update. Apple has now released a patch that increases the timeout duration between the iPhone and the ActiveSync/Exchange servers, allowing the device more time to receive Exchange information like email, calendar, and contacts.
IS&T recommends that iPhone users who have upgraded to iOS 4 install this patch. It will not alter or remove any personal settings you may have on your iPhone. If you are an iPhone user who has not yet upgraded to iOS 4, IS&T recommends that you wait until Apple releases an a updated version of the software.
To download the patch, go to this Apple Support page: iOS 4: Exchange Mail, Contacts, or Calendars may not sync after update (Article: TS3398)<http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3398>.
If you have questions or need assistance applying this patch, please send mail to mobile-help at mit.edu<mailto:mobile-help at mit.edu>.
Best,
Matthew Sullivan
