Good Afternoon,

On July 16, Apple hosted a Press Conference<http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/100716iab73asc/event/index.html> about iPhone 4 antenna performance issues. During this conference, Apple CEO Steve Jobs acknowledged that the iPhone 4 does suffer from antenna interference when users hold the phone "incorrectly." To remedy the situation, Jobs announced Apple's iPhone 4 Case Program<http://www.apple.com/iphone/case-program/>, which supplies iPhone 4 users with a free case – either Apple's two-tone Bumper or other available choices. According to Apple, using the iPhone 4 case resolves the antenna issue.

If you purchased your iPhone 4 before July 23, 2010, you must apply for your free case no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

On the Case
To take advantage of this offer, find and download the free iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store. To find it, open the App Store app on your iPhone 4, select Search, enter iPhone 4 Case Program, and then select Search. (Note: as of today, when searching for this app, another app called LED Switch also appears; this is not the iPhone 4 Case Program app).

Once you've downloaded the iPhone 4 Case Program app, launch it and select Get Started. You will be required to enter in your iTunes account password. Next, select your case from any of the listed cases, verify your shipping address, and submit the order. If it was placed successfully, you will see a Thank You page stating that Apple has received your order.

According to Apple, users who had already purchased an iPhone 4 Bumper have been refunded. If you bought your iPhone 4 Bumper with a gift card or cash, please return to the Apple Store with your receipt to get your refund. Apple Retail Store customers can check their refund status on the iPhone 4 Bumper Refund Program page<https://iphonebumper.apple.com/>.

If you are thinking about purchasing an iPhone 4, be aware that the antenna interference problem is a hardware issue that won't be remedied by any future software updates. Also keep in mind that free cases are only being offered to those who buy an iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.
