Good Afternoon,

Apple has released an update to iPhone iOS 4<http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/>. Update version 4.0.1 refines the patch released on June 28, 2010 – a workaround to address Exchange synchronization issues. (Some users reported that after updating to iOS 4, they were unable to view their Exchange calendars on their iPhones.)

IS&T has tested this new update on various iPhone models, including the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and iPhone 4, and has found that it does address synchronization issues that were experienced by some community members. IS&T recommends that all iPhone users upgrade to this latest version of iOS 4.

Users who applied the iOS 4 patch should remove it before updating to iOS 4.0.1. You can do this by tapping Settings > General > Profile > EAS Default Task Timeout > Remove. After removing the patch, you can update your iPhone to iOS 4.0.1 via iTunes.

Email Issues?
Some users have reported that email was not functional after installing the iPhone iOS 4 update. If you find that to be the case, try removing the email account and setting it up again.

To remove your email account, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your MIT email account, and then swipe down and tap Delete Account.

For MIT Exchange users, instructions for setting up email, calendar, and contacts can be found here: http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/bApn.

For MIT IMAP email users, instructions for setting up email can be found here: http://ist.mit.edu/services/mobile/iphone/2x/configure-imap.

Best,
Matthew Sullivan
