Good Morning,

Information Services and Technology (IS&T) has established a
BlackBerry Release Project team. The team is focusing on the World
Edition BlackBerry (8830), which may be of interest to members of the
MIT community who travel internationally.

IS&T will begin offering support for the BlackBerry World Edition
(8830) by March 2008, upon conclusion of the release project. IS&T
will offer limited support for MIT email, and the team will soon be
making a determination regarding support for TechTime Calendar over-
the-air (OTA) sync.

At this time, IS&T recommends that community members considering a
BlackBerry purchase wait until March before making any final
purchasing decisions.

The World Edition BlackBerry devices from Verizon Wireless and Sprint
provide an unlimited national and international data roaming option at
a fixed monthly price. It is worth noting, however, that carriers do
not offer this option with any other mobile platform (e.g. Palm Treo,
Apple iPhone, Windows Mobile Devices, etc).

The BlackBerry Release Team will publish updates on the project within
the BlackBerry Release Project Wiki at:
https://wikis.mit.edu/confluence/display/bbrelease/

If you have questions, comments, or suggestions please contact the
BlackBerry Release Team via email at bbrelease at mit.edu.

Thanks,

Matthew Sullivan - SWRT
On behalf of the IS&T BlackBerry Release Team
