Greetings!

Apple released a catalog of "Web Apps" for the iPhone recently. As you may
be aware, in lieu of opening the iPhone to software developers in the
traditional sense, Apple is promoting web applications that can be accessed
by the Safari browser in the iPhone. Essentially, these web apps are web
sites that are customized for the iPhone. There are total of 204 web apps
featured in the catalog ranging from calculators to social networking sites.

If you have an iPhone, you can access them by going to the URL below and try
different web apps:
http://www.apple.com/webapps/
(Note: You can also use a Web browser, preferrably Safari, to access the
same content.)

To "save" these web apps, you can bookmark the "web app" in your iPhone's
Safari browser. Please note that your iPhone will need to be connected using
Wi-Fi or AT&T's cellular data network (EDGE) in order to function.

There are some "tricks" to save some of these web apps for off-line usage.
For those interested, please check out CNET's Video:

Cheers,

Andrew

p.s. Justin Anderson of IS&T has been working on MIT's People Directory for
the iPhone as a web application. It's currently in a beta, but you can try
it by going to http://cfm.mit.edu:3000/people on your iPhone.
