Dear Friends of MIT World,

Go to http://mitworld.mit.edu/ to see the new MIT WORLD Web site.

The site was launched today, June 30, 2003 at 1:30PM Eastern time. 
Please change your bookmarks and any internal links.  All pages will 
have redirect page so that you can easily find specific pages.

There are many improvements to the site.  We have taken in your 
helpful comments and suggestions and incorporated many of them into 
the new design.  The functionality of the site is greatly improved, 
and it features a cleaner, brighter design. While we retained the 
original logo, we've put it in a new environment.  All of the content 
is now searchable in a data base.


Some of the features include:

Video Finder

Search on "any word" and find the video.
Search on a broad list of "categories"
Search on MIT Host.  Hosts are the departments, labs, centers, 
programs or schools at MIT who are the presenters of events.  The old 
site organized the videos this way.

Email to a friend
You can send an email to someone telling them about a specific video 
of interest.


Videos of Note

In addition to the 2 videos featured in the What's New area, there 
are now 4 other videos to keep in mind.


As you can imagine this new site is the work of many dedicated 
professionals who have worked throughout the better part of 2003 on 
this effort.

Our partners include MIT IS's Web Communication Services, who helped 
in assessing the needs of the audience and in recommending the major 
framework for the new content management system. WCS consultants have 
worked closely on every step in this process from RFP development to 
vendor selection, usability and accessibility concerns, and 
integrating the site into the new environment.  Check them out on the

The site was built and designed by L/M Interactive of Andover 
Massachusetts. Their technical knowledge and creative energies have 
made this an elegant state of the art site with grace, style with a
