Hello Supernerds!

You're probably sick of filling out surveys, and this one doesn't even tempt you with a slim chance to win a $50 amazon gift card. That being said, this is also the survey that most directly affects the amount of fun you'll have this year, so we think you should fill it out anyways.  We wanted to hear from YOU about what the MIT postdoc community should look like.  We've prepared a brief survey and we would absolutely LOVE IT if you filled this out for us:

We want to bring you a ton of high quality events this year, but our budget is made of literal shoestrings (ok they're figurative shoestrings but we studied science in college, not creative writing), and the supplemental funding around campus is smaller than it once was.  As such, this year we are exploring ticketed events.  Selling tickets will allow us to throw higher quality events more frequently.  Some of the questions on this survey are an attempt to understand your price tolerance for these kinds of events, so please help us dial our pricing in!  Please note: our funding does not allow us to pay for alcohol (and many postdocs don't drink!), so any event will be a cash bar.

Finally, a common complaint we hear is that despite our... unorthodox... advertising strategy, people don't see our event advertisements on the listserv or slack.  To remedy this, we are starting (yet another) whatsapp group to keep you all up to speed.  This is not meant for chatting or clogging up your inbox, but as another avenue to see our advertisements, and importantly one that is easy to join and access.
