Dear Postdocs,

As you think about how you want to grow your career this year, consider applying to one of the professional development certificate programs. The mentoring certificate and grant writing certificate programs are now accepting applications, with a deadline of October 16. More information in the links below.

The Research Mentoring Certificate<https://capd.mit.edu/pd-certificates/>, based on curriculum developed by the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER), allows participants to explore their mentoring practice in preparation for their future roles as advisors, PI’s, and/or supervisors. The program emphasizes the fundamental importance of mentoring to the research culture of MIT. Participants meet for 6 hours, (3 in-person sessions during IAP) and work towards developing a mentoring philosophy statement. This certificate program is offered two times per year, typically in January and June.

The Grant Writing Training Certificate<https://capd.mit.edu/pd-certificates/> provides postdocs and graduate students with a foundation in the grant writing process, from an overview of the landscape of research funding to progress of grant applications through the Institute and beyond. Central to the program are 8 hours of in-person seminars during IAP (January) facilitated by expert guest trainers, plus additional panels/discussions December - March. This certificate program is offered once per year.

Best,

Ann
