MIT postdoc visa and housing survey

Dear postdocs,

Hope you are having a wonderful summer so far!

You are invited to participate in a survey on visa and housing situations. This survey is designed to collect data from MIT postdocs on the implementation of the multi-year visa sponsorship and on-campus housing availability for postdocs.

In August of 2023, there was a new guideline regarding offering multi-year visa sponsorship for international postdocs, https://postdocs.mit.edu/guide-administrators-mit-staff-only/pre-arrival?check_logged_in=1, and this survey is designed to gauge the percentage of international postdocs that received a multi-year visa sponsorship following the guideline.

Also, housing has been one of the most pressing issues for postdocs, considering the very high cost, as well as low availability of housing in the Boston-Cambridge area. This form surveys postdocs on their current housing situation, both on and off-campus.

The results will be discussed by the PDA executive board with the new Vice President of Research. Please share your input and thoughts, and also let the PDA know if you think improvements can be made to the survey.
