MIT Deshpande grants available

The MIT Deshpande Center awards grants annually to research teams that are looking to spin out within the next 1-5 years. The funding comes with mentoring and guidance on getting market-ready and starting a company.


Although the grants are formally awarded to Principal Investigators, the whole team benefits. Postdocs and advanced degree students are often the ones leading the startup company, and they find the mentoring especially helpful.

The Deshpande Center is offering two grant programs for 2024. Both are available to MIT researchers with Principal Investigator (PI) status.



DESHPANDE CENTER GRANT

First year: Up to $50,000

Renewal years: $50,000-$150,000

Pre-proposals due 6 pm, March 4, 2024

Grant cycles start September 1, 2024

Open to all technologies.



TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE ABILITY (TTIA) GRANT

First year: Up to $100,000

Renewal years: up to $150,000

Rolling deadline – Apply anytime.

Open to all technologies that would improve the quality of life for people with Down Syndrome and other disabilities.

 "Excellence + Curiosity" by MindHandHeart
