2024 MIT Research Slam & Communication Workshops

Dear Postdocs,

Interested in improving your research communication skills? Attend the workshop series below to learn how to create and deliver a compelling short-form research talk. Then, hone your skills by participating in the MIT Research Slam! This spring will mark the fourth annual Institute-wide Research Slam Competition, featuring postdocs and PhD students. Each participant will present their research and its significance in just 3 minutes - for a chance to win prizes! The communication skills you learn will pay off in your job search and networking-plus you'll have a great video to feature (see past Research Slam videos<https://www.youtube.com/@mitresearchslam2176/videos?lor=9&utm_source=mass_mailer&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=uni_targeted_emails>).

The workshops below will help you prepare, and are open to all PhD students and postdocs interested in improving their communication skills (register using the link):

This interactive workshop will help you develop key skills to prepare your own talk, such as distilling your central message, building it into an engaging story, and crafting a visually appealing slide.

This hands-on workshop will help you build confidence as a presenter and will equip you with life-long tools for delivering your ideas eloquently, engagingly, and effectively.
