Dear Postdocs,

I'm writing to share an opportunity for your consideration as a mechanism to identify a research project.

It is a unique opportunity for you (whatever background you might have) to be involved in developing new solutions to unmet medical needs, in particular to problems faced by individuals with Down Syndrome. The experience will give you a chance to learn how to explore and evaluate potential research directions, introduce you to many in the Boston area ecosystem, and might lead to a research project that you can continue on for your graduate, post-doctoral, or early career work. (The potential areas that are of relevance to Down Syndrome is vast - from basic bio, to devices, to, ...).

There is a short timeline! Sessions start next Tuesday 9/10. Keep reading and apply today.

Before giving you more details of the program, here is some information to determine if this will be logistically possible for you:

  * 10-12 hours per week commitment
  * Meetings every Tue at MIT, 2-5 pm.
  *   14 week commitment (Sept 10 - Dec 10)

Now, a brief description of the program:

This is part of the "Catalyst" program, under the linQ umbrella at MIT.

The concept is that a group of diverse individuals get together, identify the core problems that need to be solved, and develop unique solutions. The group diversity ensures that the group is thinking outside of typical thought constraints, and our experience is that this leads to really original project ideas with a high potential for real world impact. Many ideas will be vetted, some developed further. Importantly, by participating, you will have an opportunity at the conclusion of the Fall 2019 sessions to apply for funds to support work on your project.

More information and the application can be found at catalyst.mitlinq.org/mit2019<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__catalyst.mitlinq.org_mit2019_&d=DwMGaQ&c=WknmpdNpvrlj2B5K1aWVqL1SOiF30547pqSuOmtwXTQ&r=6JU420W2h96BsiFMbCf4kKpzeGpnEgXf1k9P_i6aspc&m=-BdS9TWSw9JRlw9luIPpH0TKLuAFhaR07tZH13qvmR8&s=380ZB4vrFNNskxMOUUt1TGEMMd1FqaxS376bSBqf8Io&e=> or by emailing mgray at mit.edu<mailto:mgray at mit.edu>.
A short video about how the program works is at catalyst.mitlinq.org.

If you are interested, please complete the (very short) application<https://fs24.formsite.com/MITLinQ/3wnzwd3f13/index.html> by Sunday Sep 8.
