Guest Bio: 

Dr. Sushma Gurumurthy is currently a Principal Scientist at Moderna Therapeutics in Cambridge where she is responsible for the design and discovery of mRNA drug candidates for immunotherapy of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Prior to Moderna, she served in the capacity of Research Scientist II at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute working on target validation and biomarker development for novel immune-oncology candidates - a collaboration with Janssen. Another important contribution that she made was an established functional genomics platforms to identify durable dependencies in human gastric cancers - a collaboration with Sanofi. She was a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, MGH Cancer Centre. She also supervised a research on functions of tumor suppressor Lkb1 in hematopoietic stem cell biology, skin, and pancreatic cancers modeling IDH mutations in Cholangiocarcinoma. Sushma earned her Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY along with an M.Sc in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Madras, India.
