Dear Postdocs,

*We have an opportunity for a postdoctoral representative to serve on
the Community Service Fund Board.* This is one of MIT's Institute
committees (http://committees.mit.edu/) appointed by the President. This
can be a wonderful way of meeting a variety of people at MIT and making
a contribution beyond your daily work. Here is the description:

The Community Service Fund Board provides financial support to
charitable organizations in which MIT student/employee/faculty [&
postdoc] volunteers participate. The board solicits contributions from
all members of MIT and outside sources, and then reviews requests for
help from projects utilizing MIT volunteers. The board consists of
members throughout MIT representing the Corporation, faculty, students,
administration, and alumni/ae.

*You may apply at this link for consideration by the selection
committee -please apply by **Oct. 12.

I may able to put you in touch with the person who served last year. It
was the first year the board included a postdoc, and that happened
because she thought their work sounded interesting and asked it she
could join! Now that she has moved onto another position at MIT, the
board again would like the valuable perspective of a postdoc.

Regards,

Dana
