*Off the Record: 1 on 1 with a Silicon Valley Tech Recruiter*

*Tuesday, February 3, 3:30-5:00pm *

A9 and MIT Global Education & Career Development are proud to present:

Off the Record

1:1 with a Silicon Valley Tech Recruiter

Join us for an off-the-record conversation with a Silicon Valley Tech
Recruiter. Sometimes students are at a disadvantage by not understanding
the campus recruitment process from an employer's perspective. The talk
will be geared towards explaining how recruitment across the tech
industry works, while revealing common misconceptions that students have
about the hiring process. The goal is for students to walk away from the
talk with immediate action items that they can apply to their own job
search now or in the future.

*Resumes for the YES Pile (A GECD Webinar)*

*Thursday, February 5, 2:00-3:00pm*

Can your resume survive a 15 second scan and still get into the YES
pile? This webinar will cover the strategies of effective messaging and
how to be "on-point" with your written communication. Your resume is not
an autobiography, but rather a list of relevant accomplishments that
links your skills to the needs of the company. You’ll use these
techniques in your lifelong career strategies. All GECD events are open
to MIT undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and alumni. Advanced
registration requested via CareerBridge:

*Interviewing for Academia*

*Thursday, February 5, 3:00-4:00pm*

Panel of senior and newly appointed faculty will discuss ways to enhance
preparation for your academic interview. Learn about additional
resources to help you with the interview process. Emphasis is on
preparing for interview questions which may be asked in the smaller
sessions, following your job talk, and not on the job talk itself.
Advanced registration requested via CareerBridge:

*The Art of Behavioral Interviewing*

*Wednesday, February 11, 3:00-4:30pm *

While your technical skills will get you the interview, it is your
behavioral attributes that will get you the job. This session will
discuss preparation and strategies for a successful interview. In
addition, sample behavioral interview questions will be provided along
with tips on how to answer these tough questions. This workshop is open
to undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs and alumni. Advanced
registration requested via CareerBridge:

*CVs for the Academic Job Search*

*Thursday, February 12, 2:00-3:00pm *

The CV is used for the academic job search and in some cases for PhDs
seeking a research position in other settings. This workshop will cover
the important elements of a CV, including strategies for how to showcase
your particular knowledge and experiences effectively. We will also
discuss some aspects of the academic job search – such as writing a
research or teaching statement, or obtaining letters of recommendation.
It’s helpful to bring a copy of your CV or a draft with you to refer to
as we go through the material in the workshop. Advanced registration
requested via CareerBridge: https://www.myinterfase.com/mit/student

*Effective Internship Search Strategies*

to know about finding a great internship. This workshop is open to
