Dear MIT Postdocs,

It is with our great pleasure to announce that after long negotiations, the Postdoctoral Association (PDA) was able to obtain lower gym membership rates for MIT Postdoctoral Fellows. They now qualify for the MIT Faculty/Staff/Retiree membership rate and can start signing up on November 15th at the all-day MIT Recreation Postdoc Open House.

In order to receive this new rate, you will need to provide your MIT ID card and a letter authenticating your MIT appointment as a Postdoctoral Fellow from the Office of the VPR/Postdoctoral Affairs. Instructions on how Postdoctoral Fellows can obtain the new rate can also be found at http://web.mit.edu/pda/

We would like to thank the office of the Vice President for Research, namely Claude R. Canizares and Dana Bresee Keeth for their tremendous support in making this happen. Furthermore, our thank you goes to Ana Jaklenec and Eveline Geiser, the former and current chair of the advocacy committee, who have been the driving force behind our successful attempts to making this happen.

We would like to take advantage of this opportunity to remind you all that the PDA is actively advocating for the MIT Postdoc community in different areas such as healthcare and financial benefits, child care, and career services.

We would encourage everyone that would like to be involved with our efforts to improve the postdoc experience at MIT, to sign up to become a departmental representative and/or a PDA committee member by contacting Sara da Luz Areosa Cleto ( scleto at mit.edu<mailto:scleto at mit.edu> ).
