Media Inquiry - Science Magazine - Postdocs and Opportunity identification

For an article for Science Magazine, I am seeking sources for an article
about how postdocs, especially those in science, can choose the right
opportunities for their career paths. After you network, go to the right
conferences, have coffee with the right people, and apply for the right
fellowships, how do you pick which ones to pursue? There are so many
opportunities you may feel overwhelmed as to which to take and which to
let go of. As one postdoc recently revealed to me: "The most vexing
problem I'm realizing is endemic to science, is that there are so many
interesting projects to pursue, relationships to develop, papers to
write - but so very little time to get any of it done. How to
prioritize? How not to slip into depression, feeling like so many
opportunities are slipping by? How to maintain a breadth of activities,
while having the focus to bring at least a few projects to completion,
while also having a life and family outside of science?"Sources can be
current or former postdocs, postdoc advisors, postdoc mentors, and other
professors. I am a freelancer. Contact Alaina at alainalevine.com.
