[Habitat] Sunday Habitating?!?

Hey guys,

I'm fowarding this from the Merrimack Valley chapter of habitat. They've been a long time supporter of MIT, so it's the least I can do.

Many of you have expressed interest in volunteering on a Sunday. This isn't the traditional build day, but if there's enough interest, I can throw something together for you guys. Additionally, if you would like to support them by competing in the triathlon, then i can help you with that too.

Good Afternoon Habitat Volunteers:

We are co sponsoring a triathlon fundraising event with the Lawrence YMCA on Sunday October 3rd in Lawrence and are in need of 50 volunteers to staff the event.

I am reaching out to find volunteers who want to assist us with pre day, race day events and race route events.

I am hoping you can post this to your organizations.  An event flyer is attached along with the necessary volunteer forms; individuals or group leaders interested should contact me.

Because this is a scheduled event we need a firm commitment of attendance by those wishing to volunteer.



Below is a list of volunteer activities we are recruiting for on Saturday Oct 2 and Sunday Oct 3.


Saturday October 2nd 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Where: Campagnone Common,
200 Common St.,, Lawrence, MA, 01840, a 17-acre public park in the heart of downtown Lawrence

Eleven Volunteers Needed
Prefer 3 who can also return Sunday Oct 3rd @ 5:30am for Race Day Set Up and stay till event is over ~ 12 noon
Saturday Pre race day set up Duties:
 Marking off event areas
 Staging transition areas for the swim bike run event area
 Handing out race packets to race participants stopping by on Saturday
 Park Clean up around transition areas

Sunday October 3rd
50 Volunteers Needed

25 Volunteers 5:30am until ~ closing ceremonies ~ noon
Prefer three to be volunteers from Saturday Crew

Race Day Set Up Duties
5:30 am arrival
Set up transition areas
Set up race event transition areas, bike station, racks and ramps
Finish bridge and race banners

6:45 am
Carpet placement in designated race areas
Parking attendants
Handing out race packets to race participants (Prefer to be volunteers from Saturday Crew)
Body marking race numbers on race participants
Pool: Set up pool and transition area
Race Route: Set out race cones and signs
Tent area set up

7:15 arrival am
Race Duties
 Volunteers to staff pool area and assist swimmers at exits and stairs
 Staff pool transition areas
 Staff cycling route
 Staff race route
 Staff finish line area
 Staff food/drink areas

Post Race Duties
Support Transition Area Control
Assist with Awards/Raffle
Pick Up
   Carpet, race cones, finish line, bike racks, transition fencing
    Trash pick up and clean up of Park and Race Route Areas to pre race conditions.
