Hi, everyone:

The devastation in Haiti is a call to action — and we’re asking you to
respond by working together to raise funds to help with immediate and
on-going needs in Haiti.  As a community, we can offer significant
help.  The MIT Public Service Center (PSC) is ready to  assist in
coordinating efforts and ensuring that funding reaches its intended
destination.

We encourage your support for two goals:

Supporting Partners in Health (PIH) to address immediate medical needs
as well as on-going needs.  PIH is providing important medical relief
to earthquake victims, and it has been running hospitals in Haiti for
more than 20 years.  It is a trusted organization with close ties to
the MIT community.

Enabling public service work for Haiti by MIT students and faculty
through the MIT Public Service Center or through the MIT/Haiti Relief
Fund

Here’s how you can help....

ON-LINE DONATIONS

Please see the PSC website for information about how to donate:

ON-CAMPUS FUNDING DRIVE

You can contribute by organizing, volunteering, and donating.

ORGANIZE:
-- Share information with your colleagues and connections about how to
participate — spread the word!
-- Facilitate a collection in your area or group; we’ll be happy to
work with you to get the funds to their intended destination.
-- Set up a fundraising event of your own — and let us know if we can
help you raise funds for these or other organizations.

Important note:  If you do collect funds, please also collect donor
information (name, phone/email, mailing address, amount, recipient
organization) for anyone who would like to receive a letter
acknowledging their contribution.  Give us that information with the
donations, and we will pass both along to the recipient organizations.

VOLUNTEER:
-- Sign up now to help with Lobby 10 collections by emailing
<psc at mit.edu> with your available times.  Lobby 10 collections will
start Monday, January 25, and run through mid-February.

DONATE:
-- You can drop off your donations at the MIT Public Service Center in
4-104 or at the collection booth in Lobby 10. Any amount is helpful.
Please join with us in making sure that this MIT community effort
demonstrates our compassion and support for people in Haiti who
desperately need help.

Thank you!

You can find more information about MIT efforts on behalf of Haiti on

This is the first step in what will be an on-going effort to help
Haiti for years to come.  Thank you for enabling us to take these
steps together.  Please let us know if you have any questions or
comments: <psc at mit.edu> .

Please share this message with others around the Institute.

Many thanks,

The staff of the MIT Public Service Center
