----------------------------------------------------------
1. Activities Midway Deadline Extended
----------------------------------------------------------

The deadline to request participation in the Activities Midway has been
extended to **Friday, July 15**.

At the end of this Official, there is a list of groups that have already
registered for the Midway. If you submitted a request prior to 12 noon on
Thursday, June 30th, your group should be on this list. If you think your
group should be on this list, and it is not, please email asa-exec at mit.edu.

You MUST submit a request through the database. If you encounter problems
while using the database, please check our suggestions for troubleshooting.
If problems persist, then email asa-exec at mit.edu.

Follow these steps to submit a request:
1) Go to: http://web.mit.edu/asa/www/asa-db.shtml
2) Follow the "Student Group Officer Access" link
3) In the red strip on the left side of the page, click "ASA Student Group
Officer" and then click "Select Student Group"
4) Click on the name of the group for which you are submitting a request
5) Under "Manage Resource Summary" select the "Submit Request" button for
Type "Midway"
6) Fill out the form
7) In the "Request Notes" section of the form, please answer these questions:
        a. If you need more than 1 table, please explain why.
        b. If you would like a performance time, when, between 4pm and 7pm, would
you like to perform?
8) Click "Save" in order to submit your request.

***Your request is not complete until you SAVE.***

Please email asa-midway at mit.edu if you have questions about the Midway.

--------------------------------------
2. Fall Group Registration
--------------------------------------

The ASA is trying out a new model for annual registrations and information
sharing. Instead of turning in your updated constitution and hazing form
at the fall GBM, we will have a table at Registration Day, at which your
group will be able to submit a signed hazing form and constitution. Your
group will also be able to drop off these forms at the Student Life
Programs Office (5th floor, W20) on any day during the week of Registration
Day (Sept. 6th - Sept. 9th). As always, these two forms are ***required***
in order for your group to maintain good standing with the ASA.

A student group's failure to register with the ASA may result in the
suspension, and possible de-recognition, of that student group.

The purpose of this change is to allow groups to have a longer period of
time during which to submit their forms and to help ensure that student
groups are aware of the resources available to them (through the ASA,
various funding boards, and the SLP Office) at the beginning of the year,
such that they can be utilized throughout the fall and spring
semesters. It will also allow group leaders to check and update their
officer and signatory information at the very beginning of the year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Payment for First Year Summer Mailing (FYSM)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Submissions for the FYSM are no longer being accepted. The deadline has passed.

The cost for *any* group participating in the FYSM is **$60**. The CD-ROM
will go to both incoming undergraduates and graduates. Groups will be
charged for the FYSM in the fall, during the week of Registration Day. A
form will be available online, at the Registration Table on Registration
Day, and in the Student Life Programs (SLP) Office that groups will need to
fill out and submit during the week of Registration Day along with other
group registration materials.

If your student group has participated in the FYSM, submission of the FYSM
Payment Form is mandatory.

--------------------------------
4. Recruitment Rules
--------------------------------

Please read and follow the Recruitment Rules for this year. The document of
these rules can be found at the following link:

http://web.mit.edu/asa/www/official-docs.shtml

Failure to adhere to these rules will incur immediate penalties against
your student group. The ASA will be strictly enforcing these rules
throughout the summer until the Activities Midway on September 2, 2005.

-------------------------------
5. Bulletin Board Use
-------------------------------

If your group was allocated bulletin board space in the spring, please use
your space so that it is not perceived as space for public posters.

The ASA is posing no deadlines or potential penalties regarding bulletin
board use at this time (since it is summer), but please keep in mind that
bulletin board space is a limited resource that the ASA is able to allocate
to only a portion of all ASA-recognized student groups and that there is a
waiting list.
