Dear Exec Members,

I am writing to introduce myself as your Finboard Liaison for the coming
2004-2005 school year. As a member of Finboard, I am available to answer
your questions regarding Finboard rules and regulations, funding,
reimbursements, budgets, etc. Please feel free to email me at
senelson at mit.edu if you ever have any questions.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to inform you about some important
Finboard-related news:
(1) UA Finboard Allocations for Summer/Fall 2004 have been completed and
approved. You can check your group's allocations at the Finboard website
http://web.mit.edu/finboard. If you have any questions regarding your
allocation, feel free to contact me.

(2) If you would like to reapply for more funding or have not yet applied
for funding for Summer/Fall 2004, please note that Finboard Appeals will
take place in September.

(3) All reimbursement vouchers should be submitted by May 12 to the SAFO
office in W20-549 (5th floor of the Student Center).

(4) The deadline to apply for LEF/ARCADE funding is May 10. You can find
the application at http://web.mit.edu/asa/www/funding/lef-arcade.shtml

(5) Finally, there are some new Finboard policies now in effect that I
have summarized below:
         1) Finboard-funded events must be publicized using the MIT Events
Calendar (http://events.mit.edu) and must show "UA Finance Board" as a sponsor.
         2) All Finboard-funded events must include the UA Logo (found at
http://web.mit.edu/finboard/www) on any and all forms of advertisements,
and it must be noted that the event was sponsored in part by the "UA
Finance Board".
         3) No reimbursements for event-related expenses will be made
unless an advertisement used to promote the event is attached to the
reimbursement request; this advertisement must contain the UA Logo and
clearly states that the event was sponsored by the "UA Finance Board".
         4) The President or Treasurer of your group must have attended a
Treasurer-Training Seminar sponsored by the Student Activities Finance
Office within the past year. Information about these sessions and their
dates can be found at http://web.mit.edu/slp/finances/training_advising.html.
         5) Finboard will no longer be reimbursing for tax because MIT is
tax-exempt and it is the responsibility of the group to present to vendors
and service providers with the MIT tax-exempt form (found at
https://web.mit.edu/purchasing/certificate/sales_tax_exempt/sales_tax_exempt.htm
and in W20-549), so that they do not have to pay sales taxes. If you have
any problems submitting this form to vendors, please see Laurie Ward in the
SAFO office.

All of these new Finboard policies can be found in greater detail at
http://web.mit.edu/ua/www/senate/35UAS/legislation/finboard-pol.pdf.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding any information in
this email or other funding-related questions. I look forward to being
your Finboard Liaison this year and to helping you in any way I can!

Thanks,
Sarah Nelson
