Dear Exec Members,<br><br>
I am writing to introduce myself as your Finboard Liaison for the coming
2004-2005 school year. As a member of Finboard, I am available to
answer your questions regarding Finboard rules and regulations, funding,
reimbursements, budgets, etc. Please feel free to email me at
<b>senelson@mit.edu</b> if you ever have any questions. <br><br>
I'd also like to take this opportunity to inform you about some important
Finboard-related news:<br>
(1) <b>UA Finboard Allocations</b> <b>for Summer/Fall 2004</b> have
been completed and approved. You can check your group's allocations
at the Finboard website
<a href="http://web.mit.edu/finboard" eudora="autourl">http://web.mit.edu/finboard</a>.
If you have any questions regarding your allocation, feel free to contact
me.<br><br>
(2) If you would like to reapply for more funding or have not yet
applied for funding for Summer/Fall 2004, please note that <b>Finboard
Appeals</b> will take place in September.<br><br>
(3) <b>All reimbursement vouchers</b> should be submitted by <b>May
12</b> to the SAFO office in W20-549 (5th floor of the Student
Center).<br><br>
(4) The deadline to apply for <b>LEF/ARCADE funding</b> is <b>May
10</b>. You can find the application at
<a href="http://web.mit.edu/asa/www/funding/lef-arcade.shtml" eudora="autourl">http://web.mit.edu/asa/www/funding/lef-arcade.shtml<br><br>
</a>(5) Finally, there are some <b>new Finboard policies</b> now in
effect that I have summarized below: <br>
<x-tab> </x-tab>1)
Finboard-funded events must be publicized using the <b>MIT Events
Calendar</b>
(<a href="http://events.mit.edu/" eudora="autourl">http://events.mit.edu</a>)
and <b>must show "UA Finance Board" as a sponsor.<br>
</b><x-tab> </x-tab>2) All
Finboard-funded events must include the UA Logo (found at
http://web.mit.edu/finboard/www) on any and all forms of advertisements,
and it must be noted that the event was sponsored in part by the "UA
Finance Board".<br>
<x-tab> </x-tab>3) <b>No
reimbursements </b>for event-related expenses will be made unless an
advertisement used to promote the event is attached to the reimbursement
request; this advertisement must contain the UA Logo and clearly states
that the event was sponsored by the "UA Finance Board".<br>
<x-tab> </x-tab>4) The
President or Treasurer of your group must have attended a
<b>Treasurer-Training Seminar</b> sponsored by the Student Activities
Finance Office within the past year. Information about these
sessions and their dates can be found at
<a href="http://web.mit.edu/slp/finances/training_advising.html" eudora="autourl">http://web.mit.edu/slp/finances/training_advising.html</a>.<br>
<x-tab> </x-tab>5)
<b>Finboard will no longer be reimbursing for tax</b> because MIT is
tax-exempt and it is the responsibility of the group to present to
vendors and service providers with the MIT tax-exempt form (found at
https://web.mit.edu/purchasing/certificate/sales_tax_exempt/sales_tax_exempt.htm
and in W20-549), so that they do not have to pay sales taxes. If
you have any problems submitting this form to vendors, please see Laurie
Ward in the SAFO office.<br><br>
All of these new Finboard policies can be found in greater detail at
<a href="http://web.mit.edu/ua/www/senate/35UAS/legislation/finboard-pol.pdf" eudora="autourl">http://web.mit.edu/ua/www/senate/35UAS/legislation/finboard-pol.pdf</a>.<br><br>
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding any information in
this email or other funding-related questions. I look forward to
being your Finboard Liaison this year and to helping you in any way I
can!<br><br>
Thanks,<br>
Sarah Nelson<br>
