Dear IT Partners and MacPartners
A bit of warning re: installing the 15.22 Office 2016 update and Excel.
If you have changed the Excel\Preferences\Edit and TURNED OFF “Edit directly in cell”…
It seems that now you can’t immediately click in a cell and start typing as Excel doesn’t accept the first number of character you type. You have to type the first number or letter to “open” the cell, then type it again for it to actually record your keystroke.
This doesn’t happen if you have the “Edit directly in Cell” checked. However, that’s not my preference.
I hope MS fixes the annoying behavior.
This wasn’t happening until the 15.22 update was applied.

Steve, I have found this while digging around.

Revert the ungodly change to make the first key press open a cell instead of type into it
Why did Excel 15.22 change to make the first key press open a cell instead of immediately typing into it? That hasn’t changed that since the 90s and is makes Excel incredibly frustrating to use.
This behavior ONLY occurs on the Mac version and NOT the Windows version.
Looks like they made some weird change that affected only the Mac side of things with the patch.
