[Macpartners] Apple Releases OS X Yosemite 10.10

Good afternoon,

Today Apple released its latest operating system, OS X Yosemite (10.10). In preparation, the Yosemite Release Team has been conducting pre-release tests of applications in use at MIT under a Mac OS X 10.10 environment.

Before you upgrade to Yosemite:
Before performing any upgrade, always back up your computer using Crashplan <http://ist.mit.edu/crashplan/mac/recommended> or the backup system provided by your local IT support provider (local Time Machine backup, etc.).
Check the Yosemite Known Issues Page <http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/p4EwCQ> in the IS&T Knowledge Base for software compatibility. Staff should check with their department’s IT support provider to determine when to upgrade. 
MIT-owned machines should be upgraded using the stand-alone installer on the IS&T software grid. IS&T will make this installer available once it is received from Apple. Do not upgrade using a personal Apple ID.
Personally owned machines can be upgraded by downloading OS X Yosemite from the Apple App Store.
