we have also seen the following PRINTING problem:

1. printing is foobar for some of our xerox and hp printers served by printers.mit.edu (IST’s CUPS print servers). either the print job never gets queued at the printers.mit.edu end, or it does, but then vanishes without a blip at printer end.
2. work around is to use Generic PS drivers at Mac client end, but lose driver customizations and page size options.

Mavericks comes with CUPS 1.7, with updated filters and backend.

will look at issue in more detail this week and report back.
