[Macpartners] question about signature

Here are three things to try in Mail Preferences:

1) - In the Composing tab, make sure Message Format is Plain Text.

2) - In the same tab under Responding, make sure "Use the same message format as the original message" is NOT checked.

3) - In the Signatures tab, make sure that "Always match my default message font" IS checked.

Also, whenever responding to an email that isn't plain text, use Format -> Make Plain Text, before composing and sending your response. Otherwise, code in the markup can cause unexpected things to happen.

(Personally, I think it's improper to send email in anything other than plain text, but that's just my opinion.)

Thanks,

John-Elmer

Hi -

I use Mac Mail for my MIT email, and I have this odd thing going with my signature. When I write an email and include the signature block it is its normal size (see bottom of this email). But when someone replies to me the signature has grown is size significantly - see the attached screenshot. Why does this happen? Does anyone else have this problem? Note also the that the tag line below my signature stays the normal size. Most of the people here at Libraries use Outlook even with their Macs and I wonder if that is the problem? Suggestions?

thanks
Erja
